Ways to Understand and Respond to Autism Spectrum Disorders

When: May 7, 2013

Time: 7 p.m. Eastern

Dr. Gerard Costa will review the early signs of autism, discuss the recent reports about the rise in children given this diagnosis, and offer an "inside" perspective of how children and adults with autism might be experiencing the world. Through discussion with the webinar participants, information about the emerging neuroscience of autism, the range of interventions available, and the importance of autism "acceptance" will be explored.

Story Time Specials @your Library

Time for Stories Mondays at 10:00 a.m.

This weekly story time is a perfect introduction for the budding reader! Recommended for ages 2 – 3; activities include stories, songs and crafts. Drop-ins welcome!

Afternoon Adventures Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m.

This event features a diverse range of activities. Children of all ages enjoy an interactive story time and hands on craft. Recommended for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners and all school-age kids with the day off! Drop-ins welcome!

Mother Goose Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.

Want your baby to love books and reading? Join us for this weekly event recommended for ages birth through 24 months. Drop-ins welcome!

Working Parents Need Child Care

An across-the-board cut sets no priorities!

With the election now behind us, Congress needs to make important budget decisions to avert the looming “fiscal cliff,” (on January 2 when across-the-board budget cuts are scheduled to occur at the same time that current tax cuts are scheduled to expire). All options should be on the table to reduce the deficit, including revenues and spending. Tough decisions need to be made, but effective programs such as child care that help to strengthen our economy are critical to both protecting children and assisting working parents.
